Jr. Accountant-Payroll -- New Rochelle, NY


Basic Function

We are seeking a Junior Accountant specializing in payroll to execute, manage, and supervisor the general ledger and payroll processes.


Responsibilities include:

  • This position requires both written and mathematical accuracy, accountability, effective business skills and superior judgment. One must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with internal personnel to ensure prompt resolution of issues and achieve maximum efficiency of operations.
  • Process payroll through ADP.
  • Facilitate inter-company reimbursements.
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing wage rates in all states, counties and towns that organization does business in.
  • Oversee the preparation of all related payroll tax reports and other necessary reporting requirements relating to payroll.
  • Oversee the maintenance and organization of accounting, reporting, entity, property and leasing documents of a portfolio of buildings.
  • Prepare tax, operating and other escalation billings for tenants.
  • Prepare general journal entries, rent rolls, and monthly reports.
  • Preparation of all related payroll tax reports and other necessary reporting requirements relating to payroll.
  • Record all mortgages/payroll, management fees and other related payables on a monthly basis.
  • Participate in the integration of all accounting related activities on property acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Bank reconciliations of multiple accounts.
  • Preparation of commission statements for all Sales Arborists
  • Account management including updating daily cash totals.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • 5+ years’ experience in a comparable role in accounting for a Landscaping/Construction Management/General Contracting company.
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • A solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting pronouncements.
  • Strong general ledger, payroll, and bank working knowledge.
  • Requires ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks within a defined time period.
  • Must have the ability to produce and track documents and activity on multiple projects.
  • Proficient in Quickbooks.
  • Proficient with MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail a must.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.


  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of related work experience.



  • Salary range: $55K to $65K per year with benefits package.
