Almstead Around Town

Another Mostly Virtual Arbor Day!

We usually celebrate Arbor Day in our communities with tree climbing stations for kids, tree plantings, participation in Earth Day and Arbor Day events, and presentations in schools, garden clubs, and other local organizations. We’ve planted hundreds of trees and given away thousands of saplings at these events over the years. Since we couldn’t celebrate in person again this year at most of our usual venues because of Covid, we decided to do it virtually. We created a special Arbor Day page on our website with interesting information, cool links, as well as visual presentations about trees and soil. Check out our Arbor Day 2021 Portal. We hope to be back in 2022 in person at a local event near you.

Almstead VP, Michael Almstead and CT Branch Manager, Gary Norman were able to take part in a tree planting (a Liberty Elm) ceremony on Arbor Day at Oak Hills park in Norwalk, CT. Speakers at the event included Norwalk's Mayor, Harry Rilling, as well as city and park officials (see photos below).
