Tree care is a problem-solving business, and the best solutions can only come from knowledgeable experts...

Almstead’s tree care services include all aspects of tree care: tree pruning, tree trimming, tree removal, tree stump removal and grinding, cabling, bracing, and more.  All our arborists are professionally trained and certified, so you can trust their recommendations. We deliver the professional tree service we believe our clients (and their trees) deserve. Almstead is licensed in each region we serve and each branch office has licensed arborists for that state.

Custom Tree Pruning

We have many different expectations of trees and shrubs that relate to their shape: from aesthetics to shade to structural integrity. At Almstead, all of our pruning is performed according to strict industry standards that account for these factors.

Why Prune?

  • Remove dead branches
  • Train young trees for proper structure
  • Rejuvenate the growth of mature shrubs
  • Correct for structural imperfections to enhance performance during storms
  • Prevent the spread of insect and disease problems with sanitation pruning
  • Clear select branches to reveal a view
  • Thin crown for better light and air filtration
  • Provide clearance for structures and paths
  • Enhance overall shape of trees and shrubs

Tree & Stump Removal

We believe in saving trees, but sometimes, as in the case of dead or hazardous tree, circumstances may warrant tree removal. Our arborist will suggest an alternative to removal if there is a viable option available. Tree removal is a specialized task that requires trained professionals. The result can affect the look and safety of your landscape as well as the area around your property including drainage, driveways, buildings and utility cables.

Almstead uses state-of-the-art equipment to carefully dismantle and remove trees. This usually includes chipping down the branches, cutting the tree trunk into smaller sections, and cutting the stump close to the ground.

After removing a tree, the work is not done yet. The stump needs to be removed as well. Leaving an exposed stump can be unsightly to look at, attract termites or other insects, and cause damage through spreading roots. Almstead has experienced crews and specialized equipment to remove or grind down stumps safely and efficiently.

Planting specimen trees in your landscape is a good way to increase your property value and to give it the aesthetics you desire. Whether seeking a replacement or adding to a landscape, consult with an Almstead arborist to find the right tree for your location and ensure that it’s planted correctly.

It is important to practice proper care and maintenance, starting from the time they are planted, so that generations to come may enjoy safe and healthy trees. Our arborists and crew have the knowledge and experience to plant both large and small trees. They will ensure that your trees are correctly planted so they thrive in their new location.

Proper selection, placement and planting are three of the most important factors one should consider when planning the installation of a new tree. Choosing a non-native tree or a site with improper soil conditions or inadequate space for root and crown growth can lead to the premature death of a newly planted tree or shrub. Consult with your Almstead arborist first, if you are thinking about planting trees or shrubs.

Other Tree Care Services

Tree Risk Assessment

Our trained and experienced arborists will inspect your trees and identify any defects that may be dangerous to people and property.

Cabling and Bracing

We add cabling and bracing when necessary to fortify the structure of aging trees.

Lightning Protection

We install lightning rods that are inconspicuous and safe for the tree. If a tree is hit by lightning, the lightning cables are designed to channel the current away from the tree (and any buildings) and into the ground where it can safely dissipate.

Proper removal and installation are important in the survival of the transplanted tree. Our specialized equipment, experienced crew, and high survival rates sets us apart.

Cavity and Wound Repair

Lightning, wind, and damage from machinery can leave gashes on trees. We will advice you on the best treatment that will work together with the tree's own natural healing mechanisms.
